Santa B. Klaus: For six years, Santa B. Klaus has been spreading holiday cheer and creating unforgettable memories for families across our community. Here’s a glimpse into his story, his passion for the role, and the magic he brings each year.

Q: How long have you been portraying Santa Claus?

Santa B. Klaus: This past season marked my sixth year as Santa B. Klaus. It’s been an incredible journey, and each year the experience becomes more rewarding. What started as a simple favor for a friend has now blossomed into a full-fledged business, and I’m truly grateful for the joy I get to bring to others.

Q: What inspired you to start this business?

Santa B. Klaus: It all began when a college friend asked me to step in for her father, who was too ill to appear as Santa. My grown children also encouraged me to give it a try. At the time, I didn’t have a suit that fit, but I didn’t want to settle for anything less than perfect. Fortunately, a talented seamstress friend helped create my first custom Santa suit, and things took off from there.

My youngest child's daycare invited me to make an appearance, and soon I was performing at Rose State College. Word spread, and before I knew it, my calendar started filling up. Each year since, my business has grown steadily.

Q: Do you have any support in running your business?

Santa B. Klaus: Absolutely! My youngest children, ages 9 and 10, have appeared as elves, and my wife, Mrs. Klaus, plays a huge role in everything. She keeps me organized, ensures I’m looking my best, and even steps in as a photographer when families don’t have one. She’s even developed a following of her own as Mrs. Klaus!

Our older daughters also help when Mrs. Klaus isn’t available. It’s very much a family effort, and I couldn’t do it without them.

Q: What motivates you to keep going?

Santa B. Klaus: The joy I bring to others is what keeps me going. It’s not just about the kids—adults get just as excited to see Santa!

Whether it’s a home visit, a daycare appearance, or a corporate event, the smiles, laughter, and energy are infectious. Seeing the happiness on people’s faces is what keeps me coming back year after year.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being Santa B. Klaus?

Santa B. Klaus: The best part is seeing people’s reactions. There’s something magical about a child’s face lighting up when they see Santa. But it’s just as special when an adult warms up to the experience too.

I’ve had people who were initially shy or hesitant, but by the end of our time together, they’re hugging me like an old friend. Those smiles and moments are priceless..”

Q: How do most people find out about your services?

Santa B. Klaus: Word-of-mouth referrals have been the biggest source of bookings for me. I’m incredibly grateful for the clients who recommend me to others.

I know I could do better with my social media presence, and I’m hoping to connect with a social media manager who can help me improve in that area.

Santa B. Klaus: I’d like to honor the late Santa Blair. He was an incredible Santa who traveled year-round, bringing joy to families not just in Oklahoma but across the country. When he wasn’t available, his daughter and others often referred people to me.

His passing last year was a great loss, and I can only hope to reach the level of professionalism and warmth he displayed in my own career.

Santa B. Klaus: Yes! I wrote a book titled Santa Claus is Black. It’s a story that reflects the true meaning of Christmas, emphasizing that Santa can look like anyone because he’s a reflection of love.
